Tips For Effective ED Medication Usage

If you have had some difficulties with erectile dysfunction and take a prescription medication to help you both obtain and maintain an erection, then you may find the medicine effective. For others, the medication may not work nearly as well as it should. If you find that this is an issue of yours, then there are a few tips you should follow to help with medication effectiveness.

Eat A Light Meal Beforehand

If you have an average metabolism, then you can expect your ED medication to start working between 20 and 60 minutes after taking it. This depends on your specific physiology and you should soon become accustomed to the timeframe so you can plan ahead for sexual intercourse.

If you find that the timeframe is not consistent, then this is something that you should investigate. The first thing you want to look at is what you are eating before you take your ED pill. If you are eating a heavy and large meal that contains a good deal of fat, then this is likely prolonging the amount of time it takes for the medication to absorb into the body. Not only will it take longer to work, but it may not be as effective when it does work.

So, you want to limit your diet to light meals that are low in fat around the time that you take your ED medication. If you do eat a fatty meal, then you should wait at least two hours before taking your prescription.

Ask About The Dose

Erectile dysfunction can be caused by a wide variety of conditions. Most are medical in nature and involve the cardiovascular system. And, if you have a diagnosed condition like heart disease, high cholesterol, or coronary artery disease, then a simple low dose prescription may not work well for you. Simply put, you may need to ask your doctor for a higher dose.

Most ED medications do come in different dosage levels. However, you should never overdo it and take more than one of your ED pills at one time. Your doctor will be able to inform you of the safest and most effective dose for your condition.

Also, you should understand that some of the erectile dysfunction medications do not always work the first and second time they are taken. So, if the medication does not work the first time around, try again a few days later. Anxiety can play a role in how well the medication works too, so it is best to relax and give the pills time to work as intended.
