What to Expect in Your Last Trimester of Pregnancy

You've made it to the last trimester of your pregnancy, but you're still far from over. You've experienced a lot and you've seen what your body can do so far, but there's still much more to come. Your body is going to continue to go through changes, and it is going to show you exactly what it was made to do, give birth. If you are heading into your third trimester of pregnancy, read on for what you can expect during this last third.

Growth

If you haven't shown much throughout the rest of your pregnancy, you're going to be surprised how much your body grows during this last trimester. Your baby is going to grow to the size of a watermelon, and you're going to notice it in your belly, and possibly in other areas of your body as well. Don't fret too much on your own growth, and concern yourself with how much your baby is growing instead. If your obstetrician is concerned at all with how much you're growing, you'll get this information from your OB.

Changes in Energy

You're going to begin to notice changes in your energy. You may have bursts of energy, and lulls in your energy where you feel completely drained or exhausted. Don't overexert yourself when you do have bursts of energy, and make sure you rest when you need to. This exhaustion isn't good for the baby, so if you can't breathe, it means you're most likely doing too much and you should stop to take a break.

Changes in Sleep Patterns

You're also going to notice a change in sleep patterns. You may wake up extremely tired, or you may have times when you can't sleep at all. You may also experience nights when you just can't get comfortable. If you have this issue, try sleeping with more pillows to help you get more comfortable. You are also going to notice that you aren't going to be able to sleep on your front, or maybe even your side. Add pillows to see if it helps you sleep. Warm milk before bed may also help you get some sleep.

If you are in the third trimester of your pregnancy, you're going to notice a lot of changes to your body, your mood, and your energy. Contact an obstetric clinic about other things you may experience in your third trimester of pregnancy, as well as to ask any questions you may have about this trimester.
